After a 9.5hr flight from Brisbane, we arrived at Incheon airport, Seoul and were soon transferred to our transit accommodation, the Orakai Songdo Park hotel, which was excellent.
It was only built in 2013 and was extremely comfortable which, for someone who gets very limited sleep on a long haul flight, was a godsend.
We had a great view from our room, overlooking both the city and a local park and we took advantage of the park’s proximity the next morning, squeezing in a big walk all around it, before our transfer back to Incheon for our flight to Paris.

Some observations of Seoul:
A window washer in Seoul has the potential to be a millionaire many times over. The majority of the huge population live in multi-storey apartment blocks and, since there are thousands of these, the opportunities for work are literally endless.
The amount of paperwork that needs to be completed before being able to enter Korea is astounding. There is definitely no sneaking in, that’s for sure…..
The airport toilets are spectacularly clean. Really, they are!
Not sure of what Seoul has for a longer term tourist, but I’m fairly certain a trip to the Demilitarised Zone wouldn’t be my choice. However, apparently, it is for others.. Day tour, anyone?

The roads in Seoul, apart from those in middle of the old city, are all three lanes (at least) each way and it works extremely efficiently. Perhaps Brisbane town planners should take note?
Generally, the landscape in Seoul is quite flat and we realised that it’s because they have reclaimed a lot of land and are continuing to do so, to accommodate the huge and expanding population.
