I’m sorry, but it must be said…

The French way of life is great. Late starts in the morning, very long lunches, fresh food open air markets and the much noted ‘ je ne sais quoi’. We love it all

However, there is something that I cannot ignore, even in our bucolic bliss. No way of sugar coating it, so I’m just going say it out loud. It’s poo 💩 . Yep, that’s right, ‘beaucoup de poo’, in fact. Historically, Paris has been much maligned in regard to the inevitable shoe poo incidents, but they seemed to have cleaned up their act. It’s not entirely a poo-free zone, but we can walk many a Rue in reasonable confidence these days, without the need to continually glance downwards.

We are now spending more time in rural France though and it seems that the attitude here is still very much ‘if you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go’ and if the urge happens to occur outside our neighbours front door, on the road or in the middle of a stunningly beautiful medieval stone bridge, so be it. Now, I’m not suggesting it’s French people who are relieving themselves with gay abandon, rather it is their dogs. Of which there are many. And, it seems, due to the resulting evidence, almost all of them large (if you get my drift..)

I think slowly, slowly, we may see some improvement, but in the meantime ‘Poo Prudence’ is very definitely required… It’s a minefield out there!

PS. No, I don’t have any photos of the offending article, I still have my standards to uphold!
