Kia Ora from the Land of the Long, White Cloud…

We’ve realised New Zealand is very aptly named.  No, not a romantic notion, or a Mãori myth, there actually IS a long white cloud here, that nestles above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu, between the Remarkable Mountains. It’s beautiful…

I’m enamoured with the snow capped mountains here and, since we’re surrounded by them, what’s a girl to do, but take what seems like a thousand photos.  There is a postcard photo opportunity around every corner and I’ve been taking full advantage

It’s prime ski season in Queenstown at the moment and I’ve had to fit in with the locals. Terms such as half pike, schussing, powder hound, scissoring and ‘sick’ are peppered in my day to day conversation 😃 😃 😃 . Sweet as, bro!

Of course, along with my newly found skiing terminology, my dress standards have also altered. Not generally known for sporting a beanie in Brisbane, I’ve adapted well and have been happily wearing a variety of colours here in Queenstown…and the bigger the pom-pom, the better!

Before travelling to New Zealand, I was given quite a list of recommended restaurants and cafe’s and we’ve tried and tested quite a few, either for breakfast or dinner.

The Botswana Butchery is our all time favourite, the food and the ambiance are spectacular. But, for anyone heading this way, here’s a list of others we’d definitely direct you to..

No 5 Church Lane (try the mulled wine, it was delicious!)

Yonder

The Bath House

The Boatshed

Siagon Kingdom (Pho Ga,,,yum!)

Cow Lane Pizza

Fat Badger Pizza

Eichardt’s Hotel

Surreal

Pog Mahone’s

Terra Mia (in Arrowtown).

We’ve loved our holiday in Queenstown, culminated by the beautiful wedding of Rhiannon and Tim. The scenery, the people, the food and wine….we’ve had a ball.

It’s a return to reality for us tomorrow however, in the meantime, it’s ‘Mihi’ New Zealand, we will be back!

  1. Hi, You photos never disappoint. The are some of the most spectacular I’ve ever seen. You have a real talent🤗. The wedding looks like it was wonderful. Rhiannon looked so beautiful and happy, just like her mom! Thank you for sharing them. When are you back from NZ and coming in for coffee? Looking very forward to seeing you and hearing all about it. Travel safely. Love Yvette

    1. Thanks Yvette, she did look gorgeous, didn’t she? It was a fabulous day all round. And, yes, the photos are great, but not so much to my talent, more due to the spectacular scenery. It’s hard to take a bad photo. We had a wonderful time over there. I’ll be in for brekkie on Thursday, looking forward to seeing you!
